How to avoid rollover when operating Road Roller?

Jun 11, 2025

1. Preparation before operation
1. Check the equipment status:
Ensure that the brake and steering systems are sensitive and reliable.
Check whether the tire pressure is normal to avoid tire leakage or insufficient pressure.
Check whether there are leaks in the hydraulic system pipelines and operating valves, working cylinders, oil pumps, etc., and whether the operation is abnormal.
2. Check the working environment:
Ensure that the working site is flat and solid, and avoid operating on sites with excessive slopes.
Avoid driving on soft ground or sections with excessive slopes.
2. Skills in operation
1. Control speed:
Keep low speed during driving and avoid sudden acceleration or deceleration.
When turning, operate slowly and smoothly to avoid sharp turns that cause the Road Roller to lose control.
2. Avoid slope operation risks:
When driving on a slope, slow down and maintain a stable posture to avoid rollover.
When going uphill, roll from low to high, and avoid sliding in neutral when going downhill.
When operating on a horizontal slope, the slope should be ≤15%.
3. Pay attention to the operating environment:
Always pay attention to the surrounding conditions to ensure that there are no people or obstacles on the road of the Road Roller.
Avoid operating in adverse weather conditions, such as heavy fog, rain and snow, etc.
4. Keep the equipment balanced:
Before starting the road rolling operation, the center of gravity and balance of the equipment should be adjusted.
Avoid driving fast or making violent steering operations on uneven roads.
III. Special working conditions
1. Operation in narrow areas:
When using a hand-held Road Roller in a narrow area, operate it at a low speed and carefully.
2. Operation in adverse weather:
When operating in adverse weather (such as heavy fog, rain and snow, etc.), the operation should be stopped to ensure the safety of the operators.
IV. Precautions after operation
1. Shutdown and storage:
Stop vibration, stop the equipment on a flat ground, and pull the handbrake.
Drain the fuel tank and disconnect the battery during long-term storage.
2. Equipment inspection and maintenance:
Check whether the various parts of the equipment are damaged or abnormal. If so, record and report.
Clean the dust and debris on the surface of the equipment.
V. Training and Awareness
1. Strengthen operator training:
Improve the operator's operating skills and safety awareness, and ensure that they are familiar with the operating procedures of the Road Roller.
Periodically conduct safety training to ensure that operators understand the structure and performance of the equipment.
2. Improve the safety management system:
Strengthen on-site safety management to ensure that the accident rate is reduced.
