1. Cleaning and Inspection
Thorough Cleaning: Before storage, thoroughly clean all dirt, dust, and debris from the surface of the equipment, especially around the vibrating components and clutch. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean hard-to-reach areas.
Inspect Components: Inspect all components for damage, wear, or looseness. Pay particular attention to bolts, nuts, vibrating components, and electrical connections. Repair or tighten any damage or looseness promptly.
Inspect Fluids: Check the quality and level of fuel, lubricating oil, and hydraulic oil (if applicable). Replace any fluid immediately if it's deteriorating or contaminated.
2. Lubrication and Rust Prevention
Lubricate Components: Apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil or grease to all components requiring lubrication (such as bearings, gears, vibrating components, etc.). Ensure the lubricant is clean and free of impurities.
Rust Prevention: Apply rust-inhibiting oil or rust-inhibiting agent to metal surfaces, especially areas prone to rust, such as bolts, nuts, and metal frames. Protect electrical components: Wrap electrical connections and switches with waterproof tape or plastic film to prevent moisture and corrosion.
3. Storage Environment
Dry and ventilated: Store the plate compactor in a dry, ventilated environment free of corrosive gases. Avoid storage in areas with high humidity, dust, or chemical fumes.
Avoid direct sunlight: Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent aging of plastic components and cracking of rubber components.
Moisture-proof measures: If the storage environment is humid, place a desiccant (such as silica gel) around the device to absorb excess moisture.
4. Battery Care
Disconnect the battery: If the device is equipped with a battery, disconnect it from the power source before long-term storage to prevent self-discharge.
Recharge regularly: Check the battery charge level approximately every month and recharge as necessary to ensure it remains in good condition.
5. Support and Protection
Support the device: Place the plate compactor on a flat, solid surface. Avoid storing it suspended or tilted. Use wooden blocks or brackets to support the device and reduce pressure on the tires or support legs. Protect hoses and cables: Keep hydraulic hoses and electrical cables organized to avoid twisting or squeezing to prevent damage.
6. Regular Inspections
Regular Inspections: Even if the equipment is not used for an extended period, it should be inspected periodically (e.g., monthly) to ensure it is in good condition. Inspections should include:
The level and quality of lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and other fluids.
Check for loose fasteners such as bolts and nuts.
Check for abnormalities in vibrating and electrical components.
7. Recording and Marking
Recording Information: Record the storage date, inspection, and maintenance records of the equipment on or near its storage location for easy tracking and management.
Marking Equipment: Mark the equipment with words such as "Long-term Storage" or "Not in Use" to remind operators of the equipment's condition.
