How should the Road Roller slow down when turning on a slope?

Jun 18, 2025

1. Preparation before deceleration
1. Plan ahead:
Before approaching the ramp turn, reduce the speed in advance to avoid emergency deceleration during the turn.
Assess the difficulty and slope of the turn and choose the appropriate deceleration strategy.
2. Check the equipment status:
Ensure that the braking system is working properly and check whether the brake pedal is responsive.
Check whether the steering system is normal and ensure flexible steering.
2. Deceleration operation skills
1. Decelerate in advance:
Before entering the ramp turn, release the accelerator in advance to let the Road Roller decelerate naturally.
Avoid suddenly releasing the accelerator during the turn to prevent the vehicle from losing control.
2. Use engine braking:
When turning downhill, it is strictly forbidden to slide or slip in neutral.
By lowering the gear, use the engine's braking force to control the vehicle speed. Engine braking can decelerate more smoothly and reduce wear on the brake system.
3. Press the brake pedal lightly:
If further deceleration is required, press the brake pedal lightly and gradually increase the braking force.
Avoid sudden braking, as sudden braking may cause the center of gravity of the vehicle to move forward, increasing the risk of rollover.
4. Keep driving at a low speed:
When turning, keep driving at a low speed, and the speed should be controlled below 3km/h.
Keep driving at a constant speed and avoid sudden acceleration or deceleration during the turn.
III. Deceleration in special circumstances
1. Turning uphill:
When going uphill, you should reduce the speed in advance to avoid sudden deceleration on the slope.
Select a low gear to ensure that there is enough power to pass the slope.
2. Turning downhill:
When going downhill, it is strictly forbidden to slide or slide in neutral, and the engine brake should be used to control the speed.
If the speed is too fast, you can lightly step on the brake pedal, but avoid sudden braking.
3. Slippery road surface:
When turning on a slippery road surface, you should further reduce the speed to avoid the vehicle slipping due to insufficient ground friction.
Lightly step on the brake pedal and avoid sudden braking to prevent the vehicle from losing control.
IV. Inspection after operation
1. Check the equipment status:
After turning, check whether all parts of the equipment are normal, especially the braking system and steering system.
Ensure that the equipment is not damaged during the turning process.
2. Parking of equipment:
When stopping, the vibration should be stopped first, and then the reversing mechanism should be placed in the middle position, and the transmission should be placed in neutral.
The Road Roller should be parked on a flat and solid place and should not be parked on a slope.
V. Training and awareness
1. Strengthen operator training:
Improve the operating skills and safety awareness of operators to ensure that they are familiar with the deceleration operating procedures of the Road Roller.
Carry out safety training regularly to ensure that operators understand the structure and performance of the equipment.
2. Improve the safety management system:
Strengthen on-site safety management to ensure that the accident rate is reduced.
Formulate and implement strict safety operating procedures to ensure that operators strictly abide by them when decelerating.
