I. Significant Deterioration of Fluids
1. Engine oil turns black, contains metal shavings, or emulsifies: Indicates severe internal wear or water ingress, resulting in lubrication failure.
2. Hydraulic oil darkens in color, has a burnt smell, or contains suspended matter: Indicates high-temperature oxidation of the oil, which may cause valve sticking.
3. Transmission fluid foams or becomes cloudy: Indicates poor sealing or internal overheating; immediate replacement is necessary.
II. Abnormally High Equipment Operating Temperature
1. Water temperature consistently exceeds 95°C, and cooling is difficult even at low speeds, possibly due to a blocked cooling system or insufficient coolant.
2. Hydraulic oil temperature is 15–20°C higher than normal, accelerating seal aging and increasing the risk of leakage.
3. Bearings are hot to the touch (>70°C), indicating poor lubrication or fatigue damage.
III. Significantly Decreased Overall Machine Performance
1. Insufficient power and sluggish acceleration; even at full throttle, maintaining operating speed is difficult.
2. Unresponsive vibration start/stop or unstable amplitude may indicate a malfunction in the vibration motor or eccentric block system.
3. Heavy steering and prolonged braking distance affect construction safety, requiring inspection of the hydraulic and braking systems.
IV. Abnormal Noises, Leaks, or Structural Hazards
1. A "clicking" or "humming" noise when the steel wheel rotates may indicate loose bearings or abnormal gear meshing.
2. Oil leaks in hydraulic lines or dripping from joints not only waste oil but may also lead to pipe bursts.
3. Cracks or paint peeling in weld areas, especially at the steel wheel connection, pose a risk of breakage.
V. Instrument Alarms or ECU Fault Codes Modern road rollers are equipped with electronic monitoring systems. Immediate maintenance is required when the following warnings appear:
1. Engine load consistently >90%
2. Hydraulic system pressure exceeds limits (>25MPa)
3. ECU reports fault codes such as P0234 (over-boost pressure) or P0087 (under-fuel pressure).
