How to quickly repair a road roller after it has been overloaded

May 18, 2026

I. Immediately Stop the Machine and Allow it to Cool Naturally

1. Do not shut down the machine while it is running: After overload, the engine and hydraulic system temperatures will be extremely high. Let it idle for 5-10 minutes before stopping to avoid thermal shock damage to the turbine and oil lines.

2. Wait at least 30 minutes for it to cool naturally: Ensure that the water and oil temperatures return to normal ranges (water temperature < 85°C, hydraulic oil temperature < 60°C).

II. Replace Critical Fluids to Restore System Performance

1. Replace the engine oil and filter: Overload will cause the engine oil to oxidize at high temperatures and lose its lubricating ability; it must be completely replaced.

2. Replace the hydraulic oil and filter element: High temperatures will accelerate the aging of hydraulic oil, producing gum and metal shavings, affecting system stability.

3. Check and top up the transmission fluid: If it is a traction impact roller, confirm that the gear oil has not deteriorated due to high temperatures.

III. Comprehensive Inspection of Vulnerable Components

1. Listen to Vibration Bearings: Use a manual stethoscope or electronic stethoscope to check for abnormal noises. Replace immediately if looseness or noise is found.

2. Visually Inspect Steel Wheel Welds: Pay special attention to the connection between the roller and the hub, and the reinforcing rib area. If cracks are found, the machine must be taken out of service and professionally repaired.

3. Test the Shock Absorber: Check for cracks in the rubber shock absorbers and for oil leaks in the hydraulic buffer cylinders to ensure effective damping.

IV. Cleaning and Resetting, Preparing for Next Operation

1. Clean the Radiator and Engine Compartment: Remove dust and oil stains to ensure efficient heat dissipation.

2. Remove Adhesives from Steel Wheels: Especially asphalt and mud residue to prevent dynamic imbalance.

3. Reset Instrument Parameters: Clear non-fatal fault codes and confirm that the EMS system has returned to normal monitoring status.
