1. Appearance inspection
1. Surface flatness:
Carefully observe the flatness of the surface of the tamping plate. If the tamping plate is obviously uneven, especially in a large area, it means that the wear is serious.
For example, the surface of the tamping plate, which should be relatively smooth, has deep pits or bulges, which will seriously affect the compaction effect, indicating that the degree of wear is serious.
2. Edge wear:
Check the edge of the tamping plate. If the edge becomes very smooth, or even has gaps or breaks, it means that the wear is serious.
Under normal circumstances, the edge of the tamping plate should be sharp and can effectively compact the edge area. When the edge is severely worn, it will lead to insufficient compaction and affect the quality of the project.
3. Color change:
After long-term use, the color of the severely worn tamping plate may change significantly. For example, due to the high temperature and wear caused by friction with the ground, the surface of the tamping plate may change color, turn black, etc.
If the color of the tamping plate is found to be very different from that of the new tamping plate, and it presents an abnormal color, it may mean that the wear is serious.
2. Measurement comparison
1. Thickness measurement:
Use a caliper or other measuring tool to measure the thickness of the tamping plate. Compare the measurement result with the original thickness of the tamping plate. If the thickness decreases by more than a certain percentage, it means that the wear is serious.
For example, for a certain model of tamping plate, the original thickness is 50 mm. After a period of use, the measured thickness is 40 mm, and the thickness is reduced by 20%. In this case, it can be judged that the wear is more serious.
2. Dimension change:
Measure the length, width and other dimensions of the tamping plate. If the size changes significantly, it may be due to deformation of the tamping plate caused by wear.
For example, the original rectangular tamping plate may become irregular in shape and its size will be reduced after severe wear.
3. Judgment of working effect
1. Compaction effect:
When using Road Roller for compaction, observe the ground effect after compaction. If it is found that the compaction degree is significantly reduced, and the ground is loose and uneven, it may be caused by severe wear of the tamping plate.
For example, the ground could be compacted to the required density easily using the Road Roller before, but now even after multiple compactions, the ground still cannot meet the requirements, which indicates that the compaction ability of the tamping plate has decreased, which may be due to severe wear.
2. Work efficiency:
Pay attention to the work efficiency of the Road Roller. If the time required to complete the compaction work of the same area under the same working conditions increases significantly, it means that the performance of the tamping plate has decreased, which may be due to severe wear.
For example, 100 square meters of ground could be compacted in one hour before, but now only 50 square meters can be compacted in the same time, which indicates that the tamping plate may have serious wear problems.
IV. Sound and vibration changes
1. Abnormal noise:
When the tamping plate is severely worn, the Road Roller may produce abnormal noise during operation. This noise is usually louder and more piercing than the noise during normal operation.
For example, hearing abnormal sounds such as sharp friction and impact may be due to problems with the coordination of the tamping plate with other parts after wear, or noise caused by poor contact between the worn tamping plate and the ground.
2. Vibration changes:
Feel the vibration of the Road Roller when it is working. If the vibration increases significantly, it may be that the tamping plate is severely worn, causing the balance to be destroyed.
Under normal circumstances, the Road Roller will have a certain vibration when working, but if the vibration becomes very severe and even difficult for the operator to control, it means that the tamping plate may be severely worn, affecting the stability of the equipment.
How to judge whether the tamping plate of Road Roller is seriously worn?
