1. Preparation Before Installation
Power Off and Engine Disconnect: Ensure the equipment is completely stopped. Disconnect the spark plug high-voltage wire or disconnect the power supply to prevent accidental starting.
Clean the Work Area: Remove oil, dirt, and debris from the pulleys, grooves, and surrounding areas to prevent foreign objects from entering the transmission system.
Check New Belt Specifications: Confirm that the new belt model, length, and width match the original manufacturer's requirements. Do not mix belts of different specifications.
2. Correct Belt Placement
Smoothly insert the belt between the drive and driven pulleys. Ensure the upper and lower rubber covers are not installed in opposite directions to avoid uneven load distribution.
If multiple belts are used, replace them as a group and install them simultaneously. Do not mix old and new belts to prevent uneven load distribution and premature failure.
3. Installation Techniques
Avoid Prying: Do not use screwdrivers or other tools to forcibly pry the belt, as this may damage the internal structure of the belt or the edges of the pulley grooves.
Utilizing an Existing Belt for Traction (Suitable for Space-Confined Scenarios): Connect the old and new belts, then gradually pull the new belt into position by rotating the pulley axle.
Maintaining the Radius of Curvature: When unwinding or winding the belt, ensure a sufficient bending radius. Avoid folding or applying heavy pressure to prevent breakage of the internal cords.
4. Adjusting Center Distance and Tension:** First, reduce the center distance between the two pulleys to facilitate smooth belt insertion. After installation, gradually adjust back to the standard spacing.
Use a clamp to secure one end of the belt. Tension the belt by adjusting the motor tray or eccentric sleeve until there is no significant sagging at the return roller.
Press your fingers into the middle of the belt; a pressure of 10-15mm is ideal, conforming to typical industrial equipment tension standards.
5. Alignment and Parallelism Calibration:** Ensure the axes of the two pulleys are parallel and their planes of symmetry coincide to prevent belt misalignment, which can lead to belt deviation or accelerated wear.
A right-angle ruler or laser alignment tool can be used to check the alignment of the pulley grooves; the deviation should not exceed 2mm.
6. Trial Run and Final Inspection
After installation, manually rotate the flywheel one revolution to confirm that the belt runs smoothly without obstruction.
After starting the equipment, run it at low speed for 3-5 minutes to observe for any jumping, abnormal noises, or localized overheating.
After stopping the machine, touch the belt and bearing areas; they should be slightly warm but not hot to the touch. Any abnormal temperature rise requires immediate investigation to determine the cause.
✅ Key Notes:
Group belts must be replaced simultaneously; otherwise, tension differences will lead to premature damage.
After installation, always recheck the tension and alignment to avoid a chain reaction of failures caused by improper installation.
It is recommended to check the belt condition every 50 hours of operation as part of the routine maintenance.
