I. Operating Time Under Different Conditions
1. Severe Overload (e.g., full load + high temperature + high resistance formation): Water temperature alarms, black smoke, and a sudden drop in power may occur within 10–30 minutes. Immediate shutdown is necessary; otherwise, irreversible damage such as cylinder scoring and hydraulic pump failure will occur.
2. Moderate Overload (Continuous operation above 90% load): The equipment may continue to run for 1–3 hours, but will be accompanied by a surge in oil consumption, sluggish operation, and increased oil temperature. Continuing operation will significantly shorten the lifespan of bearings and welds.
3. Mild Overload (Slightly exceeding design parameters): Operation may continue for several hours to a day, but metal fatigue and oil deterioration will accumulate silently. If no inspection and maintenance are performed within 48 hours, the risk of failure increases exponentially.
II. Key Factors Affecting Operating Time
1. Equipment Brand and Quality: High-end models (such as Bomag and XCMG) have stronger structures, better heat dissipation, and stronger overload resistance; equipment from smaller manufacturers may experience weld cracking or hydraulic failure within 2 hours.
2. Maintenance Status: If the engine oil and hydraulic oil are nearing their replacement cycle, overload operation will accelerate oil deterioration, potentially shortening operating time by more than 50%.
3. Ambient Temperature and Operating Conditions: High temperatures and dusty environments exacerbate heat dissipation difficulties, reducing safe operating time by 30%–50%.
III. Important Reminder: Do Not Rely on "Still Running" to Judge Safety
Even if a road roller can still run or vibrate after being overloaded, it does not mean it can continue operating. Internal damage (such as bearing micro-cracks or weld fatigue) has a delayed effect and may suddenly fail without warning, leading to serious accidents such as steel wheel breakage, hydraulic pipe rupture, and runaway.
✅ Correct procedure: Once overload is confirmed, the machine should be shut down and cooled down immediately according to the specifications, and a comprehensive inspection and maintenance should be completed within 24 hours. "Operating with defects" is strictly prohibited.
