How to Determine if a Road Roller is Normal

Dec 08, 2025

I. Oil Level Check

Transmission Oil Level:

With the vehicle parked on level ground and the engine idling, shift the gear lever through each gear in sequence and place it in Park (P).

Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it. The oil level should be between the maximum and minimum marks.

In cold conditions (oil temperature <25℃), the oil level should be close to the lower limit; in hot conditions (oil temperature 70-80℃), the oil level should be close to the upper limit.

If the oil level is abnormal, check the oil pan, radiator, and oil lines for leaks.

Hydraulic Oil Level:

Check the hydraulic oil level by observing the screw or dipstick. If the level is insufficient, add oil to the standard mark.

II. Connections and Mechanical Condition

Looseness Check:

Check if the linkage or cable between the control lever and the manual valve rocker arm is loose and re-secure it.

Confirm whether the pressure regulating spring of the transmission pump and shift control valve is worn or lacks lubrication.

Gear Function:

Manually shift through each gear and check if it is smooth and without jerking. If shifting gears is difficult, check the hydraulic pump, oil lines, and control valves.

III. Electrical System and Instruments

Instrument Status:

After starting, check that all indicator lights are extinguished normally and that there are no fault alarms on the instrument panel.

Verify that electronic components such as the vehicle speed sensor and shift solenoid valve are functioning.

Vibration Switch:

Confirm that the vibration switch is in the off position to avoid accidental operation that could cause equipment malfunction.

IV. Other Key Items

Fuel Quality Check: If the oil is cloudy or has a burnt smell, replace it and investigate the cause of high temperature.

Road Test: Test acceleration, shifting, and braking performance to ensure there are no abnormal vibrations or noises.
