How to maintain the Road Roller engine?

Jul 09, 2025

Daily maintenance
1. Check the oil and fluid levels: Check the engine oil, fuel, hydraulic and transmission oil levels, as well as the main clutch and service brake system brake fluid levels to ensure that they are within the normal range and without deterioration.
2. Check for leaks: Check for oil and water leaks, especially at the high-pressure pipe joints and oil cylinders. Once a leak is found, check the leak point in time and repair it.
3. Clean the filter: Clean the air filter element. If the filter element is blocked, the diesel engine will have insufficient air intake, weak work, and black smoke from the exhaust. When cleaning, special attention should be paid to not let dust and other foreign objects fall into the intake duct, otherwise it will cause greater failures.
4. Clean the heat dissipation components: Clean the grass and debris attached to the water tank and the water tank mesh at any time to ensure the heat dissipation of the engine, otherwise it will cause a series of faults such as excessive engine temperature due to poor heat dissipation.
Regular maintenance
1. Replace the engine oil and filter: After the new machine is run-in or runs under light load for 50 hours, the engine oil (including the oil in the injection pump governor), the oil filter element, and the oil pan and oil filter should be cleaned. Level 1 and 2 maintenance should be performed after every 100 hours and 500 hours of operation. For maintenance specifications and requirements, please refer to the manual attached to the machine.
2. Check the valve clearance: Check the engine valve clearance and adjust it according to the engine manual.
Long-term parking maintenance
1. Clean the equipment: If the Road Roller needs to be parked for a long time, it should be thoroughly cleaned and the water in the engine water tank should be drained (drained after daily operation in winter). Use kerosene to wipe the outer surface of the parts and the lubrication holes and add grease. Apply butter or anti-rust glue to the unpainted exposed parts to prevent rust and corrosion.
2. Storage requirements: The Road Roller should be stored in a dry warehouse. It is forbidden to store irrelevant items and gasoline.
Other precautions
1. Comply with safety regulations: Before performing any maintenance work, make sure the Road Roller is shut down and in a safe state. Use appropriate tools and equipment for maintenance work to avoid damaging Road Roller parts. Comply with relevant safety regulations and operating procedures to ensure personnel safety.
2. Refer to the engine manual: Maintain the engine according to the engine manufacturer's instruction manual.
