Emergency treatment measures
1. Stop the car immediately: Once the engine temperature is found to be too high (such as the warning light is on or the instrument panel shows that the temperature is too high), you should immediately find a safe place to stop the car.
2. Keep the engine idling: After parking, do not turn off the engine immediately, keep the engine idling, open the engine cover, increase air circulation, and help dissipate heat.
3. Turn off the air conditioning and heating system: If the air conditioning or heating system is used, it should be turned off immediately to reduce the load on the engine.
4. Check the coolant: After waiting for the engine temperature to drop, check whether the coolant level is normal. If the coolant is insufficient, add an appropriate amount of coolant.
5. Check the radiator and fan: Check whether the radiator is blocked and whether the fan is running normally. If the radiator is blocked, you can use a soft brush or compressed air to clean it.
6. Check the water pump and thermostat: If the coolant is sufficient but the engine is still overheated, it may be a water pump or thermostat failure. You need to check whether these two components are working properly.
Long-term preventive measures
1. Check the cooling system regularly: Check the coolant level and color regularly, and replace the coolant if necessary. At the same time, check whether the cooling system has leaks.
2. Maintain the engine regularly: Follow the manufacturer's recommendations to regularly replace the engine oil, air filter, fuel filter, etc. to ensure good engine performance.
3. Avoid high-load and long-term high-speed driving: Avoid driving at high temperatures or when driving at high loads for a long time. You can choose to drive in cooler hours to reduce the engine load.
4. Develop good driving habits: Avoid sudden acceleration, sudden braking, and idling the engine for a long time, which will increase the engine load and temperature.
