First of all, whether it is uphill or downhill, the lower surface of the asphalt mixture must be kept clean and dry, and some asphalt binder course must be sprayed, so as to facilitate the operator to roll and avoid the mixture slipping when the roller is working.
Secondly, when the roller is working, whether it is working uphill or downhill, it must ensure that the driving wheel of the roller is behind; In this way, the rear driving wheel can bear the driving force provided by a large ramp and the machine itself. At this time, the front wheel compacts the road surface for the first time, which can make the driving wheel produce relatively large shear force; When going downhill, the impact force caused by the weight of the machine depends on the braking of the driving wheel to offset each other. Only in this way can the mixture have greater ability to support the shear force generated by the rear driving wheel after being rolled by the front wheel.
Third, when the roller is rolling uphill, it must be ensured that the roller is as stable as possible during the steps of starting, stopping and accelerating, and it must not be too fast or too slow.
Fourth, before rolling the uphill road, it is necessary to ensure that the mixture reaches the conventional lower limit temperature, and then carry out static preloading. When the temperature of the mixture drops to 120 ℃, it can be compacted by vibration.
Fifth, when going downhill, try to avoid or eliminate the sudden speed change or braking of the machine.
Sixthly, in the case of large gradient, when using a roller, use a slight roller for pre compaction, so that the road can withstand the pressure when the subsequent heavy roller or vibratory roller works.
